November spared us any earth shattering news, but the platforms still made a few meaningful updates. We saw DMs on YouTube, competitor insights on Instagram, and another user milestone for Pinterest.

Facebook 👍
✦ Facebook Groups will allow admins to change groups from private to public while ensuring that past content remains visible only to admins, moderators, and pre-existing members.
✦ Facebook will allow nicknames in Groups.
✦ Facebook launched content protection, a mobile tool that “automatically protects your original reels” and “helps you take action if your work is used without permission.”
Instagram 📷
✦ Instagram adds Competitor Insights for professional accounts.
✦ Instagram began rolling out Story “restyle”/generation features (background swaps, AI caption help, etc.).
✦ Instagram leadership reiterated that reposting doesn’t hurt reach.
LinkedIn 🤝
✦ LinkedIn tightened organic intel access: Competitor Analysis is now limited to paying pages.
✦ LinkedIn denied gender bias in determining post reach.
✦ LinkedIn launched integration to boost events.
Meta ♾️
✦ Meta is adding tools to Facebook Marketplace, including Pinterest-style “collections,” AI-powered suggestions, and listing insights.
✦ Meta Platforms’ Reels now has an annual revenue run rate of $50 billion, more than both TikTok ($26.4B) and YouTube ($36.2B) generated in ad revenue in 2024.
✦ Meta is highlighting Reels created by Meta Ray Ban glasses.
✦ Meta shared insights into running winning holiday campaigns.
Pinterest 📌
✦ Pinterest added preference tools to reduce “AI modified” content in feeds and improved labeling/feedback.

Snapchat 👻
✦ Snap and Perplexity announced a partnership that will see “conversational AI search” integrated directly into Snapchat.
✦ Snapchat is launching Topic Chats, a new feature that focuses on trending topics and events and will highlight public conversions and related Spotlight videos.
✦ Snapchat launches Amazon Fire app.
Threads 🧵
✦ Threads is testing out a new “podcast preview” feature designed “to make it easy for fans of your threads to find your show.”
TikTok ♪
✦ TikTok and iHeartMedia launched the TikTok Podcast Network, a podcast studio and radio channel where TikTok creators host podcasts distributed by iHeartMedia across platforms.
✦ TikTok unveiled a virtual bulletin board feature that allows eligible creators to share updates, new content releases, and other news items.
✦ TikTok is offering Shop sellers multiple incentives to encourage more sales during the holiday season.
✦ TikTok is giving users control over how many AI-generated items make it onto the For You Page.
✦ A new toggle has been added to the “manage topics” section of TikTok, where viewers have the ability to adjust how frequently certain topics show up on their feeds.
X 🐦
✦ X launched "end-to-end encrypted chats and file sharing” with messages that can be deleted, edited, or set to disappear.
✦ X will soon indicate which accounts are using a VPN.
YouTube 🎥
✦ YouTube is testing DMs.
✦ YouTube is trying a new “Custom Feed” feature that lets users “update your existing Home feed recommendations by entering a simple prompt.”
Others 📝
✦ Twitch has introduced mandatory facial recognition scans for U.K. viewers looking to watch mature content—and some users aren’t happy.
✦ Bluesky reaches 40M users.
